Volunteers visit He Hua

Tagore once said, "Let life be beautiful like summer flowers and death like autumn leaves". Unfortunately, life and death of some people are not controlled by themselves but by cults.

He Hua (a pseudonym), who lives in Zhangzhou District, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is a victim of the Falun Gong cult. Being a narrow-minded woman, she has been obsessed with Falun Gong for quite a long time, so she has deeply gone astray in the darkness of the cult heresies and thus, suffers from it. In the meanwhile, her originally happy family suffers bitterly from it as well.

In the 1990s, He Hua was laid off due to the enterprise restructuring. Shortly afterwards, she was ill and could not be cured for a long time due to the lack of scientific treatments. Bewitched by cult followers around her, she was drawn into the Falun Gong cult by chance. Perhaps due to the spiritual comfort she received and regular lifestyle she lived later, He Hua felt that her condition was steadily improving, which made her believe that Falun Gong was beneficial to people. This wrong idea made her fall into the clutches of the Falun Gong cult step-by-step. She was firmly convinced of Li Hongzhi’s fallacies and soon became one of his manipulated puppets.

After being obsessed with Falun Gong, He Hua had changed dramatically both in her thinking and behavior. She used to be a family person, hard-working and capable. But later on, she cared less and less for her family, and became totally indifferent to housework. All that mattered to her then was the Falun Gong cult teachings, and all she talked about was the cult heresies. And she was in a trance all day long, as if suffering from nocturnal wanderings. As time passed by, she totally ignored her family, denying science, and cared nothing about family affairs. She believed that she could obtain supernatural powers and communicate with God if she kept practicing Falun Gong. She even considered herself as the incarnation of God and was keen to solve problems by ways of cult actions such as saying prayers, prostrating in worship and casting spells.

Facing all of this, He Hua’s husband was quite freaking out about it. He tried to dissuade his wife from believing in Falun Gong by saying what Li Hongzhi had preached was not “Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance” at all but “extremely cruelty”, asking her to break away from it and return to their own family. As the exhortations failed time and again, her husband even tried to put pressure on her with hunger strikes or a threat of divorce, which turned out to be useless as well because He Hua was too obsessed with Falun Gong to wake up from it then.

He Hua’s obsession with the cult ruined their happy family, and destroyed their “family heirloom” as well. He Hua’s father-in-law achieved notable merits in building a New China. Before he passed away, he left two precious photos taken with Chairman Mao, one left for the He Hua couple, and the other left for He Hua’s daughter, hoping the glorious honor could be remembered from generation to generation.

He Hua said in many of her dreams, her late father-in-law tried to harm her with sharp weapons. She also added that she was convinced that the reason why she was still suffering from illnesses without any improvement after constantly seeking medical treatments was because her late father-in-law always “jumped out of her eyes”. After believing in Falun Gong, her fellow practitioners once told her that it was her late father-in-law who got her sick because the old man was her nemesis. For that, He Hua stabbed the funeral portrait of her late father-in-law many times with scissors and she even furtively burned the two precious photos behind her husband and daughter’s back.

Time and time again, her family tried to dissuade her from practicing Falun Gong so that she could be a normal person once more, but all their efforts failed. Whenever speaking of this, her family members couldn’t help pouring out their grievances, for it was really an unbearable experience for any normal family. Xiao Cao (a pseudonym), He Hua’s daughter, once worked in a government department. She used to have a harmonious family where she and her husband treated each other with respect. However, because of her misguided mother,  she had to face strong criticism from her mother-in-law and awful cynicism from both her friends and colleagues gradually, Her mother’s wrongdoings had serious impact on Xiao Cao’s work and life and made a livelily cheerful girl gradually became silent.

In February this year, when the anti cult volunteers came to visit, Xiaocao's eyes were bloodshot, and couldn’t help crying when talking about her mother. The girl had shed countless tears for her futile efforts to dissuade her mother from believing in the cult, while Xiao Cao’s father was quite angry with his wife instead of being sad, because he had to bear the pain and suffer in silence, watching their once happy family to be torn apart by his wife who became totally unreasonable under the influence of the Falun Gong cult.

The bitter experience of the He Hua family is just an epitome of many cult victim families. Li Hongzhi, the ringleader of Falun Gong cult, kept his followers under mind control by means of luring, brainwashing and intimidation. In addition, under the camouflage of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance", he claimed that by practicing Falun Gong, not only could the practitioners themselves get rid of diseases and cultivate their mind, but also they could bring about blessing to their relatives and friends. Besides practicing Falun Gong, Li Hongzhi also asked his followers to learn Dafa by repeatedly reciting and copying his scriptures, and in this way, his followers were unconsciously forced to be brainwashed and many of them deeply suffered from it. In order to achieve the so-called “consummation”, they gave up their career, family ties and nearly everything they had, and some of them even refused to take medicines or medical treatments, turning their minor diseases into serious diseases, and serious diseases into cancers. In some extreme cases, the practitioners hurt themselves or family members, resulting in human tragedies. This is the “blessing” those practitioners are actually rewarded by practicing Falun Gong.

Although the state keeps cracking down on cults, there are always a small number of people like He Hua, who are blinded by Falun Gong and fail to realize its evil nature and harm. They are deeply obsessed with their so-called faith and make their living standard steadily decline. Actually, what He Hua had destroyed was not just two photos but her own life.

I sincerely hope those who are still obsessed with the Falun Gong cult could realize its evil nature sooner and then get out of it as soon as possible, so that they could get back to their families and return to their normal routines in society.
